Executive body of BIGA reshuffled for strengthening association in Kokrajhar

The existing executive body of the (BIGA), a recognized sports association under Sports and Youth Welfare, BTC, has been reshuffled on Sunday to strengthen the association and enhance its activities to preserve and promote traditional sports of the Bodos.

KOKRAJHAR: The existing executive body of the Bodoland Indigenous Games Association (BIGA), a recognized sports association under Sports and Youth Welfare, BTC, has been reshuffled on Sunday to strengthen the association and enhance its activities to preserve and promote traditional sports of the Bodos. A general meeting of the BIGA was held at the Kokrajhar Press Club on Sunday with Boloram Brahma, president of the BIGA, in the chair.

The meeting discussed at length the organization and its activities. Later, the existing executive body of the BIGA was reshuffled with Lawrence Islary, MLA of Kokrajhar East, as the new president in place of Boloram Brahma, who is now the working president. New vice presidents were added: Rakesh Boro of Udalguri, Harkeswar Daimary of Serfanguri-Kokrajhar, and Santaram Basumatary of Bijni, Chirang. Existing general secretary Guno Shankar Wary of Chirang has been retained in the same position, while Ajit Basumatary of Kokrajhar becomes assistant general secretary, with Pabitra Boro of Udalguri and Majen Basumatary of Gossainichina-Kokrajhar as joint secretaries. The new expanded executive body has created five secretaries: Jonsemik Narzary of Sonitpur, Rwnthungri Boro of Udalguri, Rojen Ramchiary of Baksa, Kumar Borgoyary of Chirang, and Bilifang Narzary of Kokrajhar, respectively, while existing treasurer Jaiklong Brahma of Kokrajhar has been retained in the same position. Besides, Mijing Narzary of Chirang becomes Chief Technical Coach, along with four other technical coaches in different disciplines.

Apart from them. Prabit Daimary of Udalguri, Lajar Swargiary of Sonitpur, Rabilal Brahma of Kokrajhar, and Gita Basumatary of Chirang became organizing secretaries, while Kabit Narzary of Chirang and Anan Boro of Udalrugi became publicity-cum-documentation secretary and assistant publicity-cum-documentation secretary, respectively. The redefined new executive body has 20 executive members.
