JORHAT: A two- day training programme along with an exhibition on self employment started at the Court Field here on Monday. The district administration in association with Assam Agricultural University, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Departments of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Sericulture, Horticulture, Fisheries and Dairy Development conducted the programme.
Rajya Sabha MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, inaugurated the programme in his address, while paying glowing tribute to the legendary Ahom general Lachit Barphukan. He praised the administration for organising such an event.
Jorhat deputy commissioner Ashok Kumar Barman earlier delivering the inaugural address, urged the youths to come forward for self employment ventures. Barman went on to discuss various initiatives aimed at assisting unemployed youths in becoming self-sufficient.
Among those who attended the inaugural ceremony were Director of National Institute of Design V Ravishankar as guest of honour, RFRI director Dr RK Borah and AAU Registrar Tapan Gohain.
