SILCHAR: There are still remote and isolated places where people sustain and survive by selling jungle roots, bamboo shoots and mushrooms in towns. They are illiterate and mostly ignorant and live far away from the glare of any publicity about them. Local journalist Chandra Narayan Singh brought their plight to the notice of Assam Rifles which did not miss any time to act.

After collecting relevant information about their place called Bhubandor under Dilkhush GP on the other side of river Barak in the subdivision of Lakhipur, the Kadamtala Battalion of Assam Rifles took up the humanitarian cause of providing relief materials to the poor and widows of the village on Friday. It was something unexpected for the people, grovelling under the mire of hard and difficult life.

55 families living below poverty line were provided help by Assam Rifles. To these people, it was God send. The villagers expressed their gratitude and thankfulness to the Battalion. Moved by their extreme pecuniary condition, Assam Rifles assured that in future also they would help them. Mandated Covid-19 protocols were maintained.
