Man Arrested In Guwahati For Fake Medical Certification

The Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) authority had registered cases against 40 officials regarding fake medical certificates

GUWAHATI: A man was arrested by police in Guwahati on Tuesday in connection forged medical referral board documents. The arrested man was identified as Ganesh Kalita.

Sources said the man Ganesh Kalita had been working in a state dispensary in the city's Khanapara area.

The Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) authority had registered cases against 40 officials regarding fake medical certificates. On Tuesday, the hospital authority filed three more cases at Bhangagarh police station.

In June this year, a man was arrested in Dibrugarh district for working as a medical officer at Hatiali tea estate for five years with a forged MBBS certificate. The arrested man Ahmed Ali (36) hails from Baraghoria under Dergaon police station in Golaghat district. Another fake doctor Simon Nag was arrested on that month on the charges of forging MBBS degree and working as a medical officer at Mokalbari tea estate in Dibrugarh district.

Another fake doctor Uttam Kushwaha was arrested by police in Majuli district in June this year.

According to reports, a man from Uttar Pradesh named Uttam Kushwaha set up his medical chamber near the Jengraimukh Police Station in Lakhimi gaon and had been treating patients. A large team of civil administration and police officers nabbed the fraudulent doctor after receiving a tip. The squad also seized lakhs of rupees in cash and medical tools from the imposter doctor.

In September, 2020 a man Pankaj Kumar Nath was arrested by police in Dibrugarh for practising with a fake MBBS degree in Dibrugarh's Tingkong tea estate.
