Fake gold biscuits seized; 1 held in Sonitpur district

TEZPUR: Acting a tip off, a team of Sonitpur police led by SI Simanta Pathak, Inspector-in-charge of Borghat Out Police post and SI Naren Chetia, along with the team, arrested a person and seized 1.300 kg fake gold biscuits in Kurkani village under Borghat police outpost in Sonitpur district on Tuesday.

While talking to The Sentinel, Additional SP (Headquarter), Sonitpur, Madhurima Das said that police caught red-handed one Rafiqul Islam (22), resident of Kurkani village under Tezpur Sadar police station, with four fake gold bars in the Borghat area while he was trying to sell the fake gold bars to a person from Rangia. Police also raided the house of Rafiqul Islam at Kurkani village and busted his factory and also seized fake gold biscuits, three metal dyes, chemicals, four containers, coal and other materials. A case has been registered and the investigation is on.
