Fake nurse caught in Jorhat Medical College and hospital(JMCH)

Police arrested the woman on suspicion of posing as a nurse when she didn’t have a license.

Assam police on friday arrested a fake nurse at the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH).

Police arrested the woman on suspicion of posing as a nurse when she didn't have a license.

The accused who had said that she was Anju Gogoi of Joysagar in Sivasagar district was later identified as Arifa Begum of Mariani.

Police source stated that since past few days, the woman posing as a nurse had been spotted in different sections of the hospital.

The source said that she was seen moving suspiciously in the gynecology section of the hospital on Friday.

The matter came to fore when permanent hospital employees raised questions about where she came from and where she had trained, she gave wrong answers.

Arifa was immediately caught and taken to the Nursing superintendent's office and then handed over to the police at JMCH outpost.

A nurse from the hospital said that the accused had always managed to avoid the other nurse's questions by starting to talk to patients or by walking into some ward or the other.

The nurse also alleged that the imposter was either looking to steal things from the hospital or was part of a bigger gang who kidnapped newborns.

Police said that investigations underway and on to what the suspect's motive was.
