DEMOW: Lachit Pator (8), son of Muklar Pator and a resident of Kharahat near Demow was seriously injured on July 1 after falling from a tree while trying to pluck mangoes. He lost his balance and fell over a pointed bamboo stick which pierced through his body. After the incident, Lachit Pator's family, who belongs to an economically backward section, took him to Assam Medical and College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh. After the news of the incident spread many people provided financial help for the treatment of the boy. Moreover, Lalit Tanti, secretary of AASAA, Demow Regional Committee also requested the people to donate for the treatment of the boy. The operation of the boy was done in Assam Medical and College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh where he was admitted. As Lachit Pator's father is a daily wage earner, the family members have requested the government as well as the people to provide financial assistance for his further treatment.
