JOYSAGAR: The Sivasagar District Krishak Shramik Sangram Suraksha Samittee members staged a protest in front of the Kalugaon Government Hospital on Monday and alleged that in the rural areas of Sivasagar district, community health services were still neglected.
They alleged that health services provided in Kalugaon PHC, Namti PHC, Borchila PHC, Banmukh PHC, Ajerguri, Konwarpur, Jarabari, Halwating, Bogidol, Gaurisagar, Dikhowmukh PHC and in Rajabari (Desang) PHC were not up to the mark and hence villagers had to go to Sivasagar Sadar even for minor health issues.
The farmers’ body also alleged that there was a severe shortage of staff in many rural hospitals. The activists referred to the incident that had taken place just two days ago in Gaurisagar PHC as well as in Kalugaon PHC where many patients had to return home without getting treatment as there was no health department official on duty. Such unauthorized absence of health department officials is a regular feature in rural hospitals, they further alleged.
Sivasagar District Krishak Shramik Sangram Suraksha Samittee has demanded the district administration’s prompt intervention in solving rural healthcare challenges. A memorandum was submitted to the Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner in this regard.
