GUWAHATI: In Golaghat town, the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department uncovered a massive LPG cylinder syphoning and selling ring on Monday.

According to officials from the Ministry of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs, the ring prospered by syphoning off LPG gas cylinders, reloading them into smaller ones, and selling them to unsuspecting clients in Golaghat without an ISI/BSI mark.

The ring allegedly operated out of a modest godown in a residential neighbourhood. It should be highlighted that unauthorised LPG refilling stations, particularly those operating out of residential areas, are exceedingly dangerous.

The Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Department issued a statement on Twitter regarding the event, adding, "Do purchase LPG cylinders exclusively from approved dealers." In a few inspections performed by FCS&CA at Golaghat, a massive racket of syphoning cylinders and selling them to customers without the ISI/BSI mark after filling them from 14.2 kg home cylinders was revealed."

Customers should be aware of such unethical activities and avoid falling prey to them, according to the state's Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Department. "Plz contact local police if someone is detected complicit in such delinquencies," the Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Department posted in a tweet.
