GUWAHATI: The Guwahati International Airport (GIA) authority took to their official Twitter handle to confirm that no female staff of 'Pranaam' service at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport have been asked to avoid traditional clothing and ornaments.

This comes after a few media reports went on air claiming that the Adani group has issued a contract to one company named 'PRANAM' and a dress code rule has been issued by the company in which all female employees have been asked to wear western dresses like skirts and suits.

According to the new rule, the female employees can't wear Mekhala Chador (the traditional dress of Assam), can't wear bangles, mangalsutras and can't even wear sindoor while on duty at LGBI Airport.

Meanwhile, rubbishing all claims the official Twitter handle on the Guwahati International Airport tweeted saying, "We would like to draw your attention to this fact that the allegation levelled by a private TV channel, against the female team members of Pranaam, is baseless and untrue. #GuwahatiAirport greatly admires the culture and traditions of Assam and the Northeast."
