Finance Minister Ajanta Neog lays foundation stone of 10 schemes in Golaghat town

GOLAGHAT: State Finance and Social Welfare Minister Ajanta Neog on Tuesday laid the foundation stone of 10 schemes in Golaghat town under the CIDF at a function organized at the Samannay Khetra in Golaghat town.

Speaking on the occasion, Neog said that Rs 77 crore had been sanctioned for development of the structure of Golaghat town under CIDF. Stating that maximum funds had been earmarked for the supply of water, she said a scheme fund of Rs 11 crore has been approved to provide pure drinking water.

Another water supply scheme has been approved for Rs 9 crore, that is, a total of Rs 30 crore has been earmarked for water supply schemes only. In fact, Rs 23 crore has been sanctioned for improving roads and drains in Golaghat town. In addition, electric arrangements will be made for cremation of bodies at Muktidham crematorium in Golaghat nagar.

On the other hand, she said the road from Dergaon to Rangajan will be built at a cost of around Rs 200 crore. She said 4 km of this road would be included in Golaghat town. There will be a system of driving on both sides from Arengapara crossing to Dhansiri bridge and pedestrians will be able to walk for about 400 metres along the river and the bridge will also be beautifully developed.

Cheques were given to 832 women of Golaghat under the Assam Micro Finance Incentive and Recovery Scheme. Around 600 of the women who received the cheques took loans from Bandhan Bank. She urged the women who have taken loans to repay them on time. She also urged the women to spend the loan money on the work for which the loan was taken. She also advised the Deputy Commissioner to create awareness about financial literacy in consultation with lead banks in Golaghat.

Deputy Commissioner Mrigesh Narayan Baruah, District Development Commissioner Arpa Baglari, Zilla Parishad CEO Dhiraj Das, and other dignitaries were present.
