Fire at Jagiroad; many shops gutted

JAGIROAD: A fire broke out in the vegetable, clothes, and fish markets in Jagiroad at around 2 a.m. today. The shops were burned down before a fire brigade vehicle arrived late from Morigaon. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage were not known at the time of reporting. The Morigaon Commissioner, along with the officers concerned, visited the spot today. The residents are looking for a fire department office in Jagiroad, but they are deeply dissatisfied that an office has not been set up in Jagiroad.
