Haflong: In a devastating fire which broke out at about 2 am on Tuesday, a dwelling house was completely reduced to ashes resulting to a heavy loss of ornaments, cash and belongings and important documents belonging to the house owner and tenants.
The fire was so strong that nothing could be saved other then the dwellers' lives. The cause of fire could not be ascertained as there was no power. Neighbours faced a tough time to douse the fire as there was no fire service at Harangajao. Impact of fire was so strong that within one and half hours, 10 rooms of the house were completely gutted.
Son-in-law of the house owner said that they have lost many things including important documents and failed to understand as to how the fire caught so suddenly and engulfed the entire house where there was no possible known source of the fire in the vicinity. People of Harangajao are of the opinion that if there was a fire service at Harangajao, then such type of incident could be avoided.
