First COVID Care Centre inaugurated at Kendriya Vidyalaya Mangaldai

MANGALDAI: Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Pijush Hazarika on Thursday inaugurated the first COVID Care Centre with 200 beds at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Mangaldai.

Earlier, the Kendriya Vidyalaya complex was used as the quarantine centre. The asymptomatic COVID-19 patients will be admitted in this COVID Care Centre. Both the legislators Guru Jyoti Das and Binanda Kumar Saikia, Deputy Commissioner Dilip Kumar Borah, Superintendent of Police Amrit Bhuyan and officials of the district health department were also present in the inaugural function.

Later talking to The Sentinel, Deputy Commissioner Dilip Kumar Borah said that in view of the possible rapid increase of asymptomatic persons infected with COVID-19, the district administration had no alternative but to look for well spacious buildings with isolated campus so that the asymptomatic patients could be admitted. "We already have 30 beds in the isolation ward in Mangaldai Civil Hospital, 50 beds each in the model

hospitals at Janaram Chowka, Kunwari Pukhuri and Duni to accommodate 180 COVID-19 patients where oxygen facility can be offered. But the asymptomatic patients will be admitted in the COVID Care Centre at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Mangaldai. The required medical team with para medicos has already been arranged," said Deputy Commissioner Dilip Kumar Borah.
