First wave of flash flood hits 28 revenue villages in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: The first wave of flash flood has affected 28 revenue villages under Lakhimpur district during these days. As per report from the district administration, the overflowing water of Kakoi River has inundated four revenue villages- Tenga Bosti, Na-Ali Majgaon, Moinapara and Na-Bhagania- under Kadam revenue circle while flood caused by Ranganadi has submerged five villages - No. 1 Dezoo Pathar, No. 2 Dezoo Pathar, 110/107 Grant Dezoo, Aranya Basti and Ujani Khamti.

On the other hand, 12 villages under North Lakhimpur Revenue Circle - Borimuri, Kasipathar, No. 1 Puta Pukhuri, Chandmari, Baligaon Bohotia, Borbocha, No. 1 Rangajan, Cherap Bhati, Borbil, No. 1 Hindu, 9/6 Koilamari, Sukulibhoria - have been inundated by recent wave of flash flood. Similarly, no. 1 Tatibahar. no. 2 Tantibahar, Burhaburhi, no 4 Tatibahar, Athanibari, Puli-Naharani and Phutabhog, a total of seven villages under Narayanpur Revenue Circle have been affected by flood caused by River Dropang.

Floods have submerged 390 hectares of crop area covering Kadam and Narayanpur Revenue Circles, affecting 6,070 people, 1,200 small animals, 571 big animals and 1680 poultry.

On the other hand, floods have damaged the North Lakhimpur by-pass to Lilabari Airport Road, one PWD rural road at No. 2 Tatibahar under Narayanpur RC, the cold weather bridge from Krishnapur to Ghiladhari under Dhakuakhana RC, approach to the box-culvert at Phenkhati under Bihpuriya RC, Rampur to Urangbosti culvert under Naoboicha RC and a culvert at Phutabhog under Narayanpur RC.
