Kokrajhar: Along with other parts of the State, Fit India School Week under Fit India Movement kick-started on Thursday in Chirang district. This was informed by the DIPRO of Chirang, Gagan Narzary.
The opening ceremony, which was held at Urbashi Memorial High School, Kashikotra was inaugurated by Inspector of Schools Jaypal Singh Brahma in the presence of heads of educational institutions, teachers, students of different schools and public.
On the occasion, he informed about the 3rd edition of Khelo India Youth Games, 2020 to be held in Guwahati from January 10 to January 22 and the necessity of organizing Fit India School Week from January 2 to January 7 in every school of the district in order to commemorate the event and encourage greater participation of youths in sports and other physical activities.
The Fit India Week in Chirang district will be celebrated in 10 selected educational institutions- Amguri HS School, Bengal HS School, Basugaon HS School, Sdli Kashikotra HS School, Dhaligaon High School, Subhaijhar High School, Kajalgaon High School, Khungring High School, Bhirhangaon High School, Urbashi Memorial High School in district-level and five schools in subdivision level- Bijni Bandhab HS School, Ulubari HS School, Panbari HS School and Bijni Girls’ HS School under Bijni Civil subdivision.
As per the scheduled program, mass yoga, team building activities, slow motion tags, and demonstration of traditional sports of Assam was held on the first day. Accordingly, organizing traditional games, debate, extempore speech, one-act play, session on personality development through sports on second day; session on emotional health, short distance walkathons, marathons, running race, dramas, skits, plays, mimes on third day; inter-school traditional games competition, symposium on fitness through sports by eminent speakers on the fourth day; session on health and nutrition, physical activities, essay writing, poem writing, painting and quiz competitions on the fifth day and traditional games on the sixth day will be held with the active participation of students, parents and teaching staff.
