Five Chimpanzees Rescued In Assam's Karbi Anglong District

The police rescued the five chimpanzees and handed them over to forest department officials of Manja range in the district on Wednesday.

Diphu: The Assam Police on Wednesday said that it has rescued five wild chimpanzees from a vehicle and two suspected traffickers arrested in the state's Karbi Anglong district.

According to reports, during the routine checking, the police intercepted a vehicle in Dilai Tiniali area near the Assam-Nagaland border on Tuesday night and found the animals inside.

The police rescued the five chimpanzees and handed them over to forest department officials of Manja range in the district on Wednesday.

The initial report claimed that the two arrested persons were identified as Md Hobibur Rahman and Md Zanab Khan and hailed from Thoubal district of Manipur.
