Five Dacoits Arrested in Baksa, Pistol, Cars, Bikes Recovered

Among the cars recovered from the dacoits are a Maruti Suzuki, a Grand i10 and a Datsun Redigo.

Baksa: In a major respite for commoners, the Baksa Police have arrested five dacoits and recovered a pistol, two motorcycles, three cars and five mobile phones from them. The arrest was made on Friday. This gang of dacoits have been robbing people of mobile phones, vehicles and other valuables creating panic in the district for a long time by doing daylight dacoity at public places.

Several daylight dacoity incidents were reported in the district recently. The dacoits favourite targets were people who worked in micro-finance companies. At last, in an operation led by the newly posted Additional SP, Ujjal Pratim Baruah, police arrested five people from Musolpur and Odalbari areas of the district.

The arrested have been identified as Anjan Das, Gopesh Das, Himanshu Haloi, Kuldeep Roy and Khanin Deka. However, two of their accomplishes are still on the run. Among the cars recovered are a Maruti Suzuki, a Grand i10 and a Datsun Redigo.

The dacoits have been stopping people on their way and robbing them of valuables including mobile phones and cars. The police were looking for this gang of dacoits for the past 2 years and finally they got lucky on Friday. They followed a tip off which paid off well and led to the arrest of the 5 dacoits.
