DOOMDOOMA: Under Rotary India Literacy Mission (RILM) of Rotary International (RI), Rotary Club of Doomdooma awarded five teachers the Nation Builder Awards at a function held at Rupai High School on Saturday with Rotarian president Mintu Upadhyay in the chair. The five teachers are Pauli Goswami (Hoonlal HS School), Kabita Gogoi (Rupai High School), Sailendra Kumar Sarma (Former teacher, Doomdooma Bangiya Vidyalaya), Nabin Chandra Sarma (Jawahar Hindi HE School) and Subrata Chakraborty (Barhapjan High School). They were awarded with a phulam gamocha, a citation, a japi and a momento.
Assistant Governor (AG) Zone -12, RI District-3240 Sanjib Gogoi and Bina Devi Bordoloi, former Vice-Principal, Doomdooma College graced the occasion as guests of honour. After eradication of Polio all over the world, the RILM is an ambitious project of RI launched in 2016 to dislodge illiteracy in South-east Asia. It includes children belonging to both formal and non-formal education sectors of the country and abolition of child labour is its another prime objective. The initiative for this project was undertaken by current Rotary International (RI) president from India Sekhar Mehta.
