Five trucks laden with illegal sand, boulder seized in Sonitpur district

TEZPUR: Acting on a tip off, a successful operation was conducted by a team of the forest department under Sonitpur West Forest division led by Range officer of Tezpur Sadar Range office Mrinal Jyoti Medhi. Five trucks laden with boulder, sand and chips were seized during the operation.

The Range officer, Mrinal Jyoti Medhi informed that the trucks were seized bearing numbers AS12 BC 6171, AS-12 E 8965, AS06 AC 0217, AS12 BC 9927 and AS12 AC 2804 from Khanamukh, Gotonga, Borghat, Puruwa and Tinimile area in Sonitpur district for the violation of Assam Minor Mineral Concession Rule 64.

During the last couple of days, the forest department seized a total of 20 vehicles carrying illegal goods. The whole operation was carried out under the supervision of Nripendra Nath Kalita, DFO, Sonitpur west Forest Division.
