LAKHIMPUR: The water level of major rivers in Lakhimpur district has been rising due to heavy downpour that has been incessantly taking place in the district and nearby State of Arunachal Pradesh for the last two weeks.

As a result of it, the flood caused by River Shingara has inundated four revenue villages under Naoboicha Revenue Circle (RC) since Thursday. The affected villages are— Gosanibari, Chengelijan, No. 1 Gelahati and No. 2 Gelahati. As per the assessment of the district administration, the flash flood has affected a total of 736 people, 330 big animals and 75 small animals.
