LAKHIMPUR: The current flood situation caused by the major rivers of the Lakhimpur district is still grim. These rivers have been overflowing since Sunday creating a miserable situation in nearly hundred revenue villages under 6 Revenue Circles (RC) across the district.
Of late, flood caused by River Subansiri, the largest tributary of the mighty Brahmaputra, has alone affected 4 RCs of the district. Simultaneously, waves of flood caused by rivers like mighty Brahmaputra, Ranganadi, Pabha, Gabharu, Jiadhal-Kumatiya, Dorpang, Sessa, Kakoi Chenimai, have also hit several villages under the district.
At present, 24 revenue villages under Bihpuria RC, named Adhakhana, Pavo De-Reserve, Hamora, No. 2 Adhakhana, Japjup, Kenduguri, Bodoti Miri, Bodoti Alimur, Gahori Ghat PGR, No. 2 Hamara, Kalawani Batumchuk, Kumolia Chapori NC, No. 2 Aunibari., Bholukaguri, Dhunabari, Dhunabari Khanikar, No. 1 Aunibari, Pavamukh Vekeli, No. 1 Kaniajan, No. 2 Kaniajan, No. 1 Chenimora Kangkur, No. 2 Chenimora Kangkur, Bahgora Pothar, Puroni Bahgora, are reeling under flood caused by River Subansiri. Similarly, flood caused by the overflowing water of the Brahmaputra has inundated 6 revenue villages under Dhakuakhana RC. These villages are Charan Chuk Moderguri, NC Tekeliphuta, NC Bagari Gaon, NC Kangkan Chapori Baghchuk, NC Lutasur Indur and NC Borbil Bandena.
On the other hand, floods caused by River Subansiri and Brahmaputra has affected 25 villages under Narayanpur RC namely Anuboicha, Atuachapori, Auniabori, Aunibori, Baligaon, Banamukh NC, Banpuroi Latabari, Bonpuroi, Borati NC, Borbill, Borbill Gowalchapori, Dikrongmukh, Jalukata, Jamuguri, Kong Bong Chapori NC. Majar Chapori NC, Majgaon (Narayanpur Mouza), Na-Pamua, No. 1 Sonaribari, No. 2 Sonaribari, Sayang Kerker NC, Sayang Patir NC, Sonaribari Grazing, Temeramiri and Tintia. Under North Lakhimpur RC, 34 revenue villages like No. 1 Palashpara, No. 2 Bamunijan NC, No. 1 Mudoibil, No. 2 Palashpara, No. 2 Bamunijan NC., No. 2 Mudoibil, Adisuti NC, Amtola PGR, Bamayachuk, Bandarkota NC., Barshamukh NC, Bordubi Malowal NC, Dafalakata NC, Ghagarmukh NC, Godaboritup NC, Gowalbari NC, Gramchuk NC., Jengrai NC., Kahi Duwar, Kaliwani NC, Kandali Pathar, Mahora Borchapori, Mahora Borchapori NC, Morton Chapori, Na-Ali Miri NC, Na-Dhola NC Naharani NC, No.1 Hindu Gaon, Palashpara Tamunarchuk, Puronidhola NC, Rajabura Santipur NC, Tamar Gaon, Uhoni NC, Uriyamtola NC have been submerge by flood caused by River Subansiri.
According to the District Disaster Management Authority, the current wave of flood has affected a total of 71,889 people, 639.00 hectares of crop area and 24,304 animals, including 16,658 big animals, 6,658 small animals and 555 poultry. Electricity generating corporation, NEEPCO has been discharging the excess water through River Ranganadi from the catchment areas of Ranganadi Hydro Electric Plant, located at Yazali of Arunachal Pradesh, worsening the flood situation of the district.
