Flood situation in Dima Hasao worsens

HAFLONG: Following incessant downpour and landslides, normal life was badly affected in Dima Hasao. Road connectivity to Dima Hasao has been snapped. The district of Dima Hasao had suffered a lot last month due to heavy rain followed by landslides where three lives were lost. This time also, one Darjan Thaosen (54) of Thapa village lost his life as he was washed away by the River Mahur on Wednesday while he was returning from his paddy field. His body was recovered near Purana Maibang on Thursday.

Though most parts of the district are cut off from Haflong, many reports are pouring in about damage to houses due to landslides and rain water. The Diyungbra area of Dima Hasao has been submerged by water.

Following the release of all the gates of Khandom Dam of Umrangso, a vast area of Diyungbra submerged resulting in utter inconvenience for the people. As the incessant downpour is continuing, the water level is also rising, causing concern and fear among people.
