JORHAT: Following breaches of the embankment at three different sites along the Bhogdoi river between Holmora and Malow Ali on Wednesday night floods affected over 12,000 people and their cultivations in the revenue circles of Jorhat, Teok and Titabor, said Jayanta Goswami, the ADC-cum-CEO of District Disaster Management Authority in Jorhat on Friday.
The flood was because of heavy downpour in the upstream. The embankment-cum-road has been breached at Malowkhat, Malowpaam and Randhonijaan.
Meanwhile, the district administration opened four relief camps at Malowkhat High School, Borbheti LP School and Rowmari LP School. Four other camps were opened at 45 Gaon Panchayat Office, Gharpholia High School and Jatiya Vidyalaya, besides a health camp, animal health camp. Teams of doctors, staff and representatives from various organizations are distributing relief materials.
