MANGALDAI: For Khalilur Rahman- a fixed pay employee of Orang National Park (ONP) - November 16 will remain a memorable day of his life as he was offered felicitation for the first time in his life by the office bearers of Mangaldai Media Circle (MMC). Khalil Bhai, as everyone loves to call him, was felicitated for his outstanding service with dedication, devotion, and commitment, that too without regularization of his post for the last 30 years. He could not control his emotion as president of MMC, Hitesh Hazarika offered him felicitation with a phulam bihuwan.
Mangaldai Media Circle-a premier organization of the media persons based at the district headquarter, synchronizing with the National Press Day celebration, conferred public felicitation to a senior media person, two field staff of Orang National Park (ONP) and one wildlife and nature activist-cum-tourism promoter on Saturday in a day-long function organized on the green grass courtyard of the Forest Inspection Bungalow at Silbori.
Besides Khali Bhai, the MMC also offered felicitation to young and energetic Forester I Pranjit Deka of ONP and wildlife and nature activist-cum-tourism promoter Abdul Salam of Green Planet Resort. Earlier, the media organization offered felicitation to one of the senior media persons of the district and social activist Pawan Kumar Jha at his residence at Kharupetia as he could not attend the National Press Day function in ONP.
Members and office bearers of MMC also took part in an interaction with Khalil Bhai and Pranjit Deka on their experience in the conservation and protection of ONP and wildlife and nature. In the function anchored by media person Ganesh Dutta, adviser of MMC, former honorary Wildlife Warden Bhargab Kumar Das shared some of the untold stories and his experience on conservation of wildlife and nature with special reference to ONP. The principal of DIET, Darrang at Dalgaon, Madhab Sarma also joined the National Press Day celebration with the office bearers of MMC.
The Mangaldai Media Circle has urged the State Government and the Forest and Environment department to take up the special initiative for the fixed play employees like Khalilur Rahman who have already dedicated their lives to the conservation and protection of the Park.
