Former ADC Santosh Kumar Gupta donates Rs 7 lakh to Cachar Cancer Hospital

SILCHAR: "Rare human action is in donation for noble and humanitarian causes," says the old age. It is this spirit and vision with which former Additional Deputy Commissioner, Santosh Kumar Gupta, donated 7 lakh to Cachar Cancer Hospital Society for carrying on development works in the larger interest of suffering patients afflicted by the dreaded disease. The cheque of Rs 7 lakh was handed over to K P Chakraborty, chairman of the Society, by S K Gupta in presence of Dr Ravi Kanan, director of Cachar Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, members of the Society who included Dr Chinmoy Choudhury, Prof Dilip Kumar Dey, Niharendu Purkayastha, Jyoti Lal Chowdhury, M M Das, D N Biswas, Nilmadhav Das, secretary, Kalyan Chakraborty, administrative officer, and Haridas Dutta.

Santosh Kumar Gupta said he was donating the amount in memory of his parents, Satyendra Mohan Gupta and Surma Gupta who have always been a source of inspiration to become a man of worth. "It is my parents for whom I have become what I am today," Gupta added. Members of the society in general were all praise for his invaluable donation. Such contributions from individuals and organisations have helped the society to take the Hospital and Research Centre to a place of distinction in northeast. Dr. Ravi Kannan appreciated the benevolent gesture of Santosh Kumar Gupta.
