Former Additional District Commissioner Binayakrishna Barua Doomdooma passes away

DOOMDOOMA: Former Additional District Commissioner Binayakrishna Barua (67) who hailed from Doomdooma and was currently a resident of Nijkadamani, Dibrugarh, passed away at a private hospital in Dibrugarh on Saturday. He was suffering from diabetes and kidney diseases. His death has cast a pall of gloom here. He was the son of the late Krishna Kanta Barua, a reputed headmaster of Hoonlal High (now Higher Secondary) School. He was closely associated with sports during early part of his life here. He passed his HSLC Examination with distinction from Hoonlal Higher Secondary School and did his graduation from Doomdooma College. He qualified his Assam Civil Service (ACS) examination in 1984 and joined the post of Circle Officer of Sarthebari Revenue Circle. He served faithfully in various parts of Assam and retired as Additional District Commissioner (ADC). He is survived by his wife Devika Baruah, two daughters and many relatives. His death was widely mourned by various socio-cultural organisations including Doomdooma Press Club, Doomdooma College Alumni Association, Hoonlal Higher Secondary School, Doomdooms Sakha Xahitya Xabha, Doomdooma Senior Citizens Association, Doomdooma Sports Association.
