Kokrajhar: Literary genius, former president of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS), Sahitya Akademi awardee and Tagore Literary Award winner and an educationist, Brajendra Kr Brahma passed away on Thursday evening at RN Brahma Civil Hospital after prolonged illness. He leaves behind his wife and two sons. He was 80. Brahma has been undergoing treatment since September 29.
Former BSS president Brajendra Kr Brahma was taken to a private nursing home at Siliguri in West Bengal on September 29 after he suffered a mild stroke. He was in the ICU for a long time. Since the family is not in a position to bear the huge financial burden, he was brought back to RN Brahma Civil Hospital, Kokrajhar on November 19 after nearly two months in Siliguri.
His body would be taken to his residence at Baganshalini, Kokrajhar from the hospital on Friday morning. Many literary personalities, leaders of various organizations and well-wishers rushed to the civil hospital to pay their last respects to the literary genius.
