Former Census officer Ramani Barman passes away

Ramani Barman (75), a former Census officer, Directorate of Census Operation and a resident of Mathura Nagar, Dispur passed away in the wee hours of Friday at a private nursing home of Guwahati.

DOOMDOOMA: Ramani Barman (75), a former Census officer, Directorate of Census Operation and a resident of Mathura Nagar, Dispur passed away in the wee hours of Friday at a private nursing home of Guwahati. Born of late Dhirendra Nath Barman and late Haramaya Barman of Chowkidingee, Dibrugarh, he had his early education there. During his whirlwind tour throughout the length and breadth of the State on census duty, he lent his service as an efficient census officer and had a thorough knowledge about the complex demographic pattern of the State. He is survived by his wife and two sons. His death has cast a pall of gloom and was widely mourned by many organisations of Guwahati and Dibrugarh.
