TANGLA: The former members of disbanded National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) lamented the 'apathy' of the government to rehabilitate the members of the organization and asserted that a number of members were yet to be incorporated under the rehabilitation scheme.
A group of former NDFB members have exhorted the State and Central governments to take up 'proper rehabilitation' of all the former members of the outfit as per the clauses of the 3rd Bodo peace pact. Addressing a press conference in Udalguri on Monday, the members lamented that the meagre amount of stipend to the members was not regularly released and many of its members were yet to receive such stipends.
"The government has extended an amount as fixed deposit for the members but we have to wait for 2 years till maturity to use it for income generating works," said a former member. "As per clause 9.2 of the peace Accord, the Assam Government must initiate measures to recruit the eligible members of the organization in various sectors of the government," he added.
