TANGLA: Mangaldoi Lok Sabha MP and general secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Dilip Saikia on Sunday said that the saffron party will put its best fight in the BTC general election where the party has fielded candidates in 26 constituencies in the 40 member council. He said the BTC poll holds significance in the history of Bodo belt as it is being held after the third Bodo Accord where all the factions of the now-disbanded National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) have laid down firearms paving the way for permanent peace and development in the region.

Saikia also took stock of the preparations for the joining and public gathering event of November 6 at Kalaigaon College playground in the Udalguri district which is likely to be graced by Health and Finance Minister Dr. HimantaBiswaSarma and Assam BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass. Pertinently the BTC polls which was earlier scheduled to be held on April 4 and had to be indefinitely postponed for the pandemic is most likely to be held in the month of December. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has only one member in the 46-member council where polls are held for 40 seats and 6 members are nominated by the Governor from non-represented communities.
