KOKRAJHAR: The 10th foundation day of United Bodo People’s Organization (UBPO) was observed centrally at Telishal, Sisupani in Golaghat on Tuesday with a day-long programme. In the programme, the meritorious students of outside BTC from Bodo medium who performed well in the last HSLC and HS examination were felicitated and honoured.
As part of the programme, the flag of the UBPO was hoisted by acting president of the organization Badal Mashahary while advisor Bipin Goyary paid homage to martyrs followed by felicitation of meritorious Bodo medium students who performed well in the last HSLC and HS examination. The EM of Education of Boro Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC) Anil Basumatary attended the felicitation programme as chief guest while vice president of ABSU Kwrwmdao Wary graced the occasion as special guest.
Speaking on the felicitation programme, the EM of Education, BKWAC Anil Basumatary said the students of today are the leaders of tomorrow and the felicitation to meritorious students will encourage them to make their bright carrier which will lead them to work for nation building. He also said their good performance will be an inspiration to the upcoming generation. He said Swami Vivekananda believed, “Education is the manifestation of perfection already in man which means education is something which is there within us it’s just how much we strive for it and how much we desire to learn something new.” He also said the primary duty of a guardian or a teacher was to remove obstruction from a student’s path.
Reminding the quote of Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world,” he said one child, one teacher, one pen and a book can change the world. He called upon the students to concentrate on quality education.
An open meeting was also held with Badal Basumatary, acting president of UBPO in the chair. The Speaker of BTC Katiram Boro graced the open meeting as the chief guest. EMs of BKWAC and leaders of UBPO, ABSU and other democratic organizations also attended the meeting.
It may be mentioned that the UBPO was formed way back in 2014 at Sanjari Nwgwr, Simen Chapori in Dhemaji district with an aim to unite all the Bodo organizations. The UBPO started movement for creation of Boro Kachari autonomous council outside BTC since after the formation of UBPO by Mihiniswar Basumatary, present CEM of BKWAC as president and Anil Basumatary, present EM of BKWAC as general secretary. The UBPO was also stakeholder of BTR peace accord and signed the MoS in 2020 after which the BKWAC was created as per the spirit of clauses of BTR accord.
