Foundation laid for Dhakuakhana MV School entrance gate

LAKHIMPUR: Established in 1872, Dhakuakhana MV School entered its 150th year in the current year. The school will celebrate the sesquicentennial jubilee in January next year.

To make this celebration memorable, the school authority has planned to construct a gate in the entrance of the school. On Sunday, Dhakuakhana MLA Naba Kumar Doey laid the foundation stone for the construction of the gate while attending a ceremonial programme. The fund for the gate has been donated by the family of Swarna Kalita, who was one of the teachers of the school, to keep her memory alive. The ceremonial programme was attended by Dhakuakhana SDO (Civil) Arindam Baruah, retired teacher-cum-husband of Prema Dutta, Dhakuakhana BJP president Pradip Chamua, secretary Hemanta Gogoi and a galaxy of prominent personalities of Dhakuakhana.
