LAKHIMPUR : The Foundational Learning Study (FLS) initiated by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) was successfully conducted in the Lakhimpur district under the supervision of State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Assam.
NAS Cell, NCERT, New Delhi selected four schools of the district for conducting the survey of Class-III students regarding Foundational Learning Study (FLS) in accordance with NAS FLN-2020 from March 23 to March 25. These schools are Kendriya Vidyalaya, North Lakhimpur; Charaimoria Adarsha LP School, North Lakhimpur; Suvidya Residential English Medium School, Ghilamora; and Namoni Subanshri High School, Jamuguri. The study was administered in order to assess the learning level of Class-III students in Foundational Literacy and Numeracy. This critical study has aimed to set up benchmarks for reading with comprehension in 22 Indian languages.
In Lakhimpur district, the study was conducted by Indrajit Gam and Guna Govinda Sonowal, lecturers of Lakhimpur District Institution of Educational Training (DIET), who took part in the programme as District Coordinators. On the other hand, trainees of DLEd course, Hemanta Dutta, Dil Bahadur Mogor, Pinky Bhawal and Kakali Hazarika took part as Field Investigators. Principal of Lakhimpur DIET, Anju Borthakur, expressed thanks to the Samagra Siksha Abhiyan Programme Officer Pranjit Thakuriya, headmasters, teachers and students of the selected schools for extending cooperation for the successful conduct of the study.
