Four BPF candidates file nomination papers in Udalguri

KALAIGAON/UDALGURI: Four BPF candidates filed their nomination papers before the Assistant Returning Officers and District Election Officer, Udalguri on Tuesday, accompanied by State PHE Minister Rihan Daimary and a large number of supporters.

Tridip Daimary filed his nomination papers before the District Election Officer, Udalguri for Harishinga ST constituency. He was accompanied by minister Rihan Daimary. Shyam Sundi filed nomination for Pachnwi Serfang Non-ST constituency, Ripen Daimary for Bhairakunda ST constituency and Khagen Mochahary for Rowta ST constituency.

Despite the fear of COVID-19 spread, thousands of supporters joined the march to submit nomination papers with the candidates shouting slogans. Talking to reporters, minister Rihan Daimary said there was no other force to defeat BPF this time too and his party would come back to power. He said his party would win at least 9 seats among 10 in Udalguri in the forthcoming BTC election.

Tridip Daimary, who is also the sitting speaker of BTC, said he had not seen any probable contender in his constituency. Sitting BTC EM Shyam Sundi also expressed confidence of winning with majority.

Candidates of other parties who filed their nomination before the Returning Officer in Udalguri are Premananda Brahma of INC and Biju Shankar Rabha of GSP for 40 no. Rowta constituency, Nabajyoti Kurmi of INC and independent candidate Probin Majhi for Pachnwi Serfang Non-ST constituency, and Prodeep Kumar Daimary of INC file nominations for the Bhairakunda ST constituency.
