Four-day workshop on Kathak dance held in Dhubri

DHUBRI: A four-day workshop on Kathak dance, held in Dhubri Police Reserve Community Hall, concluded on Friday. The workshop was jointly organized by Nrityangan, a cultural organization of Dhubri and Nritya Darpan Kala Kendra of Gauripur. On the closing ceremony, Dhubri Superintendent of Police, Navin Singh, distinguished guest Kathak artiste from Guwahati, Rakesh Mondal, eminent Kathak artiste from Delhi, Partha Mondal, guardian member of Nrityangan and retired teacher of Chilarai University Dr. Pratima Niyogi were present. Addressing the closing ceremony, chief guest Superintendent Navin Singh praised Nrityangan for this joint venture and said that the way Nrityangan is making efforts to promote Indian culture among the youth was praiseworthy in the society. Prominent Kathak artiste Partha Mondal and associate instructors Arpita Karmakar, Amrita Chakraborty, Subhasree Saha conducted the training as the main instructor.

The cultural programme was auspiciously inaugurated by a dance performance by exponent in Bharatanatyam dance, Erika Igrid Nandi. After this, the artistes who participated in the workshop performed various dance rehearsals. A total of 89 dancers participated in the four-day Kathak workshop.
