BOKO: West Divisional Forest Officer Ranjan Goswami along with forest personnel launched an operation against illegal soil excavation in the Satpokholi area behind the Britannia biscuit factory under Palashbari revenue circle area in Kamrup district on Thursday.
After getting information from the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup district, Kamal Kumar Baishya, forest officials reached the area. Many soil-laden dumpers trying to escape but forest officials successfully seized four soil-laden trucks. The soil-laden four dumpers have registration numbers AS 16AC 0513, AS 25CC 8825, AS 01KC 2562 and AS 01HC 5529.
A mob allegedly tried to misbehave with the forest personnel. Later, Chaygaon Police Station, Kukurmara Police Outpost, Bijoynagar Police Outpost and Palashbari Police Station police personnel reached the place and controlled the situation. After that, the dumpers were seized and taken to the Kukurmara forest beat office. Divisional Forest Officer Ranjan Goswami said that some dumpers were continuously supplying soil and sand without paying tax in the South Kamrup area.
