Furore over burial of COVID positive woman in Morigaon district

Tension prevailed in Morigaon district on Thursday following burial of a woman who had been tested positive for COVID-19

MORIGAON: Tension prevailed in Morigaon district on Thursday following burial of a woman who had been tested positive for COVID-19 after giving birth to a child two days ago at Morigaon Civil Hospital. According to information, Hasina Begum gave birth to a child two days ago and her swab sample was taken on the same day. The test result came positive. She unfortunately died on Thursday morning in the hospital .When the body was brought to the Burha-Telahigaon for burial, the villagers gheraoed the van in which the body was brought and asked the health department officials to take back the van. But the Morigaon district administration led by Deputy Commissioner Rituraj Bora, ADC Dr ST Rahman and the police administration brought the situation under control and the deceased woman was buried behind the courtyard of her house as per COVID protocol.
