NAGAON: An e-rickshaw-borne gang of dacoits robbed the house of a businessman named Monuj Buthra at Uttar Haiborgaon in the town on Tuesday night and looted Rs 2 lakh cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 5 lakh, sources added.
Sources claimed that the gang of dacoits consisting of 7-8 members, came in an e-rickshaw and broke his door and tied the businessman and other members of his family with rope. They then looted cash as well as other ornaments. The gang then fled from the spot.
In-charge SP Dhruba Bora and other senior officials of the district police rushed to the house of the businessman on Wednesday morning and took stock of the situation. In-charge SP Dhruba Bora told media persons that investigation was on and all the culprits involved in the robbery would be traced soon.
