SIVASAGAR: RUSA 2.0 Sponsored Training Programme on “NAAC Preparedness and NEP 2020 Implementation in colleges of Assam, Sivasagar Zone” was organized by Gargaon College in collaboration with UGC-Human Resource Development Centre, Gauhati University. The training programme was inaugurated by Dr Rina Handique, Vice Principal of Gargaon College. The objective of the programme was to make the faculty and staff of various institutions aware of the process of NAAC assessment and accreditation as well as the implementation of NEP 2020. Dr Hemanta Kumar Nath, Registrar, Gauhati University who graced the occasion, enumerated the objectives of the training programme. Dr Bimal Chandra Gogoi, Principal of Sonari College also attended the programme as a distinguished guest.
The resource persons for the programme included Dr Pankaj Bora, IQAC Coordinator of Bahona College, Dr Diganta Phukan, Head of the department of Sociology, Jorhat College and Dr Anupam Chanda, Librarian and Assistant Coordinator of IQAC, Bahona College. Dr Pankaj Bora in his deliberation put forward a detailed explanation of the entire process of NAAC assessment and accreditation of an institution. He also shared his experience as an IQAC Coordinator and offered some valuable suggestions and input crucial for NAAC preparedness of any institution. Dr Diganta Phukan in his presentation titled “NEP-2020 Implementation in Colleges of Assam” explained, in exhaustive detail, the NEP guiding principles for the structure of UG Programme, types of courses, the progression pathway of the course structure, credit requirements along with other vital issues. Dr Anupam Chanda in an informative talk explained the requirements of library resources and management which are to be fulfilled for NAAC assessment.
Dr Surajit Saikia, IQAC Coordinator expressed gratitude to Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta, Principal of Gargaon College and acclaimed academician for his support and encouragement in organizing the event. He also offered gratitude to Dr Hemanta Kumar Nath, Registrar, Gauhati University as well as all the faculty members and staff of various institutions for gracing the occasion.
