Garib Kalyan Sanmilan held at Collegiate Playground in Tezpur

TEZPUR: Minister for Irrigation, Housing & Urban Affairs, etc., Ashok Singhal said it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of building a better India through inclusive growth that has resulted in improving the standard of living as well as the socio-economic condition of the poor people in the country. He was addressing the gathering at the Garib Kalyan Sanmilan held at Collegiate Playground in Tezpur on Tuesday.

It was due to the visionary leadership of the Prime Minister that thousands of people today have a scientific toilet at their homes, have access to clean fuel, pure drinking water at their doorsteps, free of cost health treatment, he said.

Delivering the welcome speech, Deputy Commissioner Deba Kumar Mishra briefly highlighted about the 16 Central Government schemes being implemented by nine ministries and departments and how they had benefitted crores of beneficiaries till date.

Altogether 5,000 new beneficiaries of Sonitpur received sanction letters for new PMAY (G) houses during the function. Also present were MLA Tezpur, Prithiraj Rava, CEO, Zilla Parishad, Karabi Saikia Karan, President, Sonitpur Zilla Parishad, Dolly Surin, chairperson, Tezpur Municipal Board, Prajnanoo Bhattacharjya, social worker Batash Orang.

To commemorate 75 years of India's independence, the nation is observing 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' with various programmes. On the occasion, the Prime Minister virtually interacted with beneficiaries across the nation of the 16 Central Government schemes being implemented by nine ministries and departments and as these schemes are aimed at reaching the poorest of the poor in the country, the event was named Garib Kalyan Sanmilan.
