Gauhati HC Gives Liberty To Students To Approach SEBA For Holding Compartmental Examination

An order was passed by the Gauhati High Court in the PIL Case No 47/2021 regarding holding of Compartmental examination by SEBA as had done in the past, only in respect of the failed students as per the policy of the Board of Secondary Education, Assam.

As per the policy of SEBA, the Compartmental Examination of HSLC/AHM examination was held in the past, for those candidates who could not come out successful in HSLC/AHM examination but failed maximum in three subjects and obtained 170 marks in aggregate. They were eligible to appear in the Compartmental Examination only once as a single chance. The candidate appearing in Compartmental Examination has to secure 30% and above marks in the subjects appeared and his total marks must be 180 to come out successful.

According to the court order, SEBA has to decide sympathetically for holding the Compartmental Examination. However, the Board of Secondary Education, Assam is mulling to hold the exam from October 1 to October 11, 2021.

According to the order, the schools inspector will receive applications from the students who are qualified to appear in the Compartmental Examination as per the procedure of SEBA. This time there will be two categories of application including students who didn't appear in the special exam and who have not applied for the exam.

Earlier the AASU (All Assam Students Union) has urged the SEBA (Board of Secondary Education Assam) to conduct the slated special examination for HSLC (High School Leaving Certificate) and AHM (Assam High Madrassa) as early as possible following all COVID-19 protocols. Taking to The Sentinel on Thursday, AASU president Dipanko Kumar Nath said, "Altogether 22,809 candidates have already applied for the examination. According to the SEBA authority, most of these students were unsuccessful in the recently declared results of the 2021 academic session.
