GUWAHATI: The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) has been asked for evidence by the Gauhati High Court regarding the status of significant development projects started after the BTC was established on February 10, 2003, as well as the hiring practises for positions over which it had complete authority.

The division bench of Chief Justice Sandeep Mehta and Justice Arun Dev Choudhury stated that it would be reasonable to obtain information on the aforementioned issues as a period of approximately 20 years has gone while hearing a PIL filed by Bodo Writer Academy and Others.

The petitioners and respondents, including the Union of India, the Assam government, BTC, and others, were ordered by the court to submit their separate affidavits on the aforementioned topics.

On June 22, the subject is once more listed.

Recently, Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) established a committee to carry out various initiatives for the growth of industries including education, agriculture, and skill development.

The 'Bodoland Knowledge Declaration 2023', which was launched in March, will be implemented in various ways by the committee, which is led by BTC CEO Pramod Boro.

However, in January, The Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) will now comprise 60 more villages in Assam, according to the state's chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, who made the announcement.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that 43 of these would be revenue villages and the remaining 13 would be forest villages from Dhekiajuli, Sootea, Biswanath, Behali, and Gohpur during his Republic Day speech in Guwahati. The committee, which is headed by BTC CEO Pramod Boro, will implement the "Bodoland Knowledge Declaration 2023" in a number of ways.

Villages adjacent to BTR and "having majority tribal population" would be included in the council, according to the Bodo peace deal signed in January 2020 with all four factions of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), which was the third such agreement signed by the Centre with rebel Bodo outfits.
