Gauhati University Postpones PG, Integrated M.Com Odd Semester Exam

The Guwahati University issued a notice regarding the postponement of PG and Int. M.Com Odd Semester examination, 2021. The exam dates will be rescheduled and notified soon.

GUWAHATI: The Guwahati University has released a notification on Thursday 20 January informing that the postgraduate and Int. M.Com Odd Semester examination, 2021 has been postponed and will be rescheduled.

The PG and Int. M.Com examinations were earlier scheduled to be held on 21, 22 and 24 January respectively. The university informed that news dates will be soon notified.

The Guwahati University is located in the Gopinath Bordoloi Nagar, Guwahati and the recent decision of exam postponement came in view of the increase in COVID-19 positive cases in the city. The decision also comes in concern to the prevailing COVID situation in the entire state.

In the notice signed by Controller of Examination, DJ Choudhury, it is informed that all other examinations to be held from 27 January onwards will be conducted as per the scheduled dates.

The practical examination of different courses will be conducted according to the schedule dates reads the notification.

The affiliated college, University Law College comes under Guwahati University has also issued a notification on Thursday regarding the postponement of the inter semester examinations of 2022 the courses B.A.LL.B/B.A.LL.B.(H) and LLB.

The LLB and B.A.LL.B exams were scheduled to be conducted on Friday 21 January and Saturday 22 January 2022. The exam postponement will continue until further notice by the University Law College, Gauhati University.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 third wave is hitting hard in the state of Assam as the situation is getting worsened with a huge number of infected cases.

As per the report on Tuesday 18 January, the state recorded a total of 8,072 positive covid cases which is the highest ever surge.

Notably since the detection of covid positive cases in Assam from March 2020, on Monday 17 January 2022 with 6,982 cases the state recorded the highest number of cases in one single day.

Among the total positive cases, 1996 cases are alone detected from the district of Kamrup Metro which means the areas under the Kamrup district are getting highly affected with the covid third wave. However, the positivity rate in Assam reached 12.62%.
