TINSUKIA: The Gelapukhuri-Tinsukia bypass is in a terrible condition, with road surfaces covered in potholes the size of small ponds. The crucial road just few hundred metres long connects Nutan Gaon, Barekuri, Makum, Digboi, Doomdooma and Sadiya on one side and Dibrugarh on the other. Time and again this issue was raised with Tinsukia district administration since October 2021 but barring superficial patching works that lasted merely a week, no concrete efforts were made by the line department. With hundreds of vehicles plying on the road, the small stretch has become highly prone to accident more so during rainy seasons. The private vehicles use the road only on emergency and face the brunt, the government personnel on the other hand using official vehicles hardly bother about the damage inflicted to vehicles.

It is desired by the local people and the commuters that the new Deputy Commissioner Swapneel Paul would take initiative in getting the pothole-infested road repaired in long lasting way along with on-going renovation of Tinsukia bypass.
