Hailakandi: Aryabhata Science Centre, Lala Block organized various competitions among high school students at Monacherra High School on Wednesday. Sponsored by Assam Science Technology Environment Council (ASTEC), the annual block level group activity saw participation from students of Classes VIII to IX from different schools in extempore speech, poster drawing and model making competitions.
Speaking as the chief guest, consultant, Max Plank Society, Germany, Dr. Sandipan Dhar underscored the need to inculcate scientific temperament among the students. Dr. Dhar motivated the students through simple science activities and urged them to think scientifically and not be superstitious.
Speaking on the occasion, Inspector of Schools, Rajiv Kumar Jha said that poverty cannot be an impediment in the development and growth of students. Urging the students to take a leaf out of the life of greatest astronomer-mathematician Aryabhata, Jha said that they should exploit their potential to take Hailakandi district in particular and the country as a whole towards the path of glory and prosperity. Reciting a poem by eminent poet Allama Iqbal, Jha exhorted upon the students to make their parents proud by carving out a niche for themselves in society and to develop scientific temperament by creating an interest in the field. District Coordinator, ASTEC, Lutfur Rahman appreciated the students for participating in the block level programme and also thanked the headmaster of Monacherra High School and the teachers for organizing the programme.
