Go 'Local for Diwali,' says CM Sarbananda Sonowal

Guwahati: The Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal has urged the people of the state to choose local products over other imported products this Diwali. CM Sonowal has requested the people of the state to support local textiles and handcrafted items.

He has also asked the people to remember Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Vocal For Local' campaign while buying or gifting earthen lamps to clothes during this festive season.

Taking to Twitter, Sonowal wrote: "From earthen lamps to clothes, this Diwali, let us show support to our artisans by using or gifting local textiles and handcrafted items. Make PM Shri @narendramodi ji's clarion call of Vocal for Local into a mass movement. #Local4Diwali"

PM Modi has also made a fervent appeal to people that they should promote 'local for Diwali' by buying local products this festival season. This will give a new boost to the country's economy.

Modi said that buying locally made products will encourage the ones who make them. This will further brighten up their Diwali.
