Golaghat AASU organizes gaon sabha against the Citizenship Amendment Bill

Golaghat: The Golaghat Regional Students’ Union, with the help of Tarfat division Students’ Union, organized a gaon sabha at Rangoli Aideo Dr. Bhupen Hazatika Mukali Mancha in view to create awareness among the village people against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 on Monday.

In the gaon sabha, the president of the Golaghat Regional Students’ Union, Angsuman Baruah presided over the meeting and the aim and purposes of the meeting was elaborated by Golaghat Regional Students’ Union secretary Biswajit Gogoi. The members of the organization appealed to the villagers to oppose the controversial bill.

The gaon sabha demanded Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to scrap the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019. The gaon sabha also appealed to the 30 ethnic organizations to launch strong protest against the Bill till the government scraps it. Further, the gaon sabha appealed to villagers to openly protest against the Bill and to avoid the BJP. In the gaon sabha, AASU central committee assistant secretary Manuwar Hussain, chief organizing secretary Raju Phukan and other leaders were present.
