Golaghat District In Assam Shuts Cattle Market To Curb Covid-19 Cases

District administration said that due to sudden outbreak of Covid-19 in the district, the administration has decided to shut down the cattle markets for two weeks.

Guwahati: To curb the Covid-19 cases in Assam, the district administration of Golaghat district has decided to shut down weekly cattle markets in the district for two weeks.

On Monday the district administration has issued an order where they have said that due to sudden outbreak of Covid-19 in the district, the district administration has decided to shut down the cattle markets for two weeks.

"…it is observed that in the weekly cattle markets of the district large numbers of people congregate and hereby increases the possibility of spread of COVID-19 and the district is witnessing a rise in COVID cases. …there is report of a cattle disease spreading in neighbouring state. Therefore, the undersigned orders the temporary closure of all the weekly cattle markets of the district vide the powers conferred in the Disaster Management Act, 2005", the order copy reads.

A committee has also been formed to look into the health status of human and cattle

The committee included the Chief Executive Officer, Zila Parishad, Golaghat, Addl. Deputy Commissioner (Magistracy),Golaghat, Joint Director of Health Services, District Veterinary Officer and representative of SDO(C) of Dhansiri / Bokakhat subdivision.

"The committee will submit their report within 15 (fifteen) days and until that time this prohibitory order will be in force," the order added.
