Golden Jubilee Festival of Bhaskarjyoti Maina Parijat concludes successfully

LAKHIMPUR: The year-long Golden Jubilee Festival of the Bhaskarjyoti Maina Parijat, one of the active children's body of Lakhimpur district, located at Japisajia near North Lakhimpur town concluded with success on Tuesday. The concluding ceremony of the festival was held from Saturday with four-day long programmes at Arunoday Sangha auditorium in an enthusiastic environment, coloured by talented performances of the children.

In order to celebrate the event, the Golden Jubilee Festival Celebration Committee organized various competition events in view of physical, mental, intellectual and spiritual enhancement of the children. On Monday, the agenda of the event began with a series of competition on drawing, intelligence quotient of children and quiz. A district level debate competition, covering the Maina Parijat bodies under Lakhimpur district, was organized from 12:00 pm. It was held on a topic ‘Modern technologies are the curse for the human civilization’. In the evening, noted theatre personality Nazim Ahmed lit the ceremonial lamp and it was followed by a special felicitation programme. Jikir and nuptial song competition commenced from 7.00 pm and it was inaugurated by retired teacher Halima Khatun. Then a colourful cultural programme was organized with the participation of a number of talented children and senior artistes as well. It was inaugurated by social activist Shyamal Sarmah Baruah, the former secretary of Arunoday Sangha.

On the concluding day, the cultural procesion was inaugurated by North Lakhimpur Press Club president Kumud Baruah. It was followed by the open session of the event, which commenced with a chorus song presented by the Mainas of the Maina Parijat. It was chaired by 'Maina' Licha Gogoi. Former Maina of the Maina Parijat-cum-former Lakhimpur MP, Dr. Arun Kumar Sarmah inaugurated the open session. In his lecture, Dr Sarmah ruminated the golden memories of the past and highlighted the contributions made by the Bhaskarjyoti Maina Parijat in the physical, mental, intellectual, cultural enhancement of the children.

Prominent vocal artiste Dr. Anjanjyoti Choudhury of Guwahati graced the occasion as chief guest. He ceremonially released ‘Arunjyoti’, the souvenir of the event. Targeting the children, Dr Choudhury delivered an informative and attractive lecture by blending the same with musical tones. Senior journalist Anupam Chakraborty attended the event as appointed speaker who delivered his lecture by interacting cordially with the children. Retired State Awardee teacher-writer Bharat Rajkhowa, ZARS-North Lakhimpur Chief Scientist Dr. Prabal Saikia, Sodou Asom Maina Parijat organizing secretary Dwijen Borah, Lakhimpur Jila Maina Parijat president Gopal Hazarika attended the meeting as guests of honour. In the evening Bhaskarjyoti Maina Parijat adviser Rajani Sarmah ceremonially lit the earthen lamp. It was followed by a colourful cultural programme, which was inaugurated by Dr. Bhupen Saikia. During the four-day programmes, the celebration committee feted several personalities of the district who have made unique contributions to the district through their fields of work.
